WES WRITING EQUIPMENT CHRONOLOGY

WES has a number of its members that have written books on specific topics.  These number amongst the standard works in the field.  There are further members who have information which can be of benefit to others.  Some of these latter members have made this available to the WES archive and this is recognised in the 'Portfolio' structure that our Bibliography and Archive contains.  The Society encourages everyone to help with this task.  Ideally this is done by digitising so that these treasured items are not put at risk and they are more easily stored.  The Librarian can make guidance available on how to do this. 

This work is now supplemented by a 'Chronology Project' which records basic data on when particular events happened and designs  released.  This is not intended to replace the descriptive material of the standard works nor is it to contain visual images.  The material will be by manufacturer or interest as is most appropriate and as members make information available.  The first of these is now ready for display and is visible here.  It covers the Parker Company.  There is a very useful set of tables also attached which show dates when products were introduced and discontinued.  

This is very much a work in progress and one of 'continuous improvement'.  The Librarian asks for volunteers from the membership both to take on the production and then editorship of further material and topics.  Please make contact through librarian@wesonline.org.uk to join this effort.

WES appreciates that one of its key responsibilities is to make information available into the future.  This is one example of how the WES is meeting this objective.
