WES LIBRARIAN SERVICES
The following services apply to WES MEMBERS ONLY unless otherwise stated. Non-members may wish to consult the Librarian on what may be available.
Some of the WES Archive material is in fragile condition. WES does not provide a loan service.
The Librarian provides the following reference sources:
· A Journal Index listing the titles of all past Journal articles with their Volume and page numbers. This is held as a .doc word file. Its current length is 15 pages in portrait but subject to occasional revision.
· A Bibliography & Archive listing. The data is held on an EXCEL spreadsheet. The current length of the spreadsheet is 44 pages in landscape but subject to regular revision. All items on inclusion are given a ‘WES Acquisition Number’ as a numeric sequence that can be used as a reference. There is a column that shows whether these items are held by the Society or not. A column shows if these are available as an electronic scan as either JPEG or PDF. A further column shows the ‘style’ of the item (eg. Advert, Article, Book, Paper, Leaflet, Magazine, Manual). Yet another column shows the size of the recorded image. Lastly, the donor is logged where known. Some data records are incomplete.
Both of these files are available to members through the WES website or directly from the Librarian without charge by email and on paper as priced below. The Librarian will carry out simple reformatting of the file without additional charge for members. Anything beyond a simple task will be charged as a Librarian service.
The WES Archive is held in storage at the home of the Librarian in Narborough, Leicestershire, England and can be visited by mutual consent without charge.
All WES Journals are available although some copies are now reprinted by photocopy. Some Journals are available on CD. A blue hard cover WES binder is also available which holds approx 12 - 13 Journals. See below for details of supply.
Archive materials will be copied where copyright allows. Prices are shown below. Be aware that copying will be at A4 and will be carried out in a way that does not damage the document concerned (by breaking the binding, for example) so that there may be distortion caused by the binding. It may be possible to supply digital photographs of such items with the expectation of distortion and loss of focus with curvature.
It is now possible to arrange a time-limited electronic download of any item using ‘Dropbox’. Cost of this service is generally lower as shown below.
The Librarian is willing to make specific searches of the Archive with payment for time. This will be on a best efforts basis without any liability. All payments will be for the Society, not for the Librarian. Service can include copying material, retyping or presentation of information typed into WORD/EXCEL or even population of a supplied format. The Librarian is NOT a professional typist and time taken will reflect this.
The general policy is that non-members will pay twice the member price or higher at the discretion of the Librarian. The Librarian normally gives a discount for quantity purchase. Please make direct contact with your specific request.
Payment may be made by Paypal through the WES website www.wesonline.org.uk. Please use the message facility to repeat what you are requesting. If paying by UK cheque please make payable to ‘The Writing Equipment Society’ and send to WES Librarian, 1 Coventry Road, Narborough, Leics, LE19 2GD. Tel: 0116-275-3310. Email enquiries to ‘firstname.lastname@example.org’.
